MOUNTAIN

The cool climate of the Panama Mountains makes it a nice alternative to the hotter coastal areas. The central mountain range runs down the middle of Panama dividing the country’s Pacific and Caribbean coasts.

The town of Boquete sits in Northern Panama. Panama’s only volcano is nearby. Many attractions are available including white water rafting, hiking, hot springs etc. This area is also famous for its world class quality coffee. Closer to Panama City, about a 2 hour drive, sits the mountain town of El Valle de Anton. At 600 meter above sea level make it much cooler than the lowlands. The public market is the center of town and the most common landmark.

El Valle de Anton attracts both foreign and Panamanian visitors escaping the heat of Panama City. Many lodging options and it’s a popular area for expats to live. From El Valle driving back to Panama City there are several mountain communities with real estate available in all price ranges. Altos de Maria and Sora being two of the most popular.
